Actress and activist Meharbano Sethi has openly criticized the Chhipa Welfare Association for its handling of the late Humaira Asghar Ali’s case. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sethi condemned the organization’s recent press conference, claiming it failed to protect Humaira’s dignity and instead added to her humiliation. She stated, “further maligned Humaira instead of protecting her.”
Comparing Chhipa with Edhi
In her tweet, Sethi made a sharp comparison between Chhipa’s approach and that of the late humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi. She wrote, “If this had been Edhi Sahab, such a disgrace would never have taken place,” expressing disappointment in Ramzan Chhipa’s handling of the situation.
Was It a Press Conference or Public Shaming?
Sethi criticized the press conference held by Chhipa, saying it added unnecessary drama to an already tragic situation. She voiced her frustration by saying, “They should’ve just buried her today as they said they would.”
Meharbano Steps In for a Dignified Burial
When Humaira Asghar’s father reportedly refused to receive her body, Meharbano Sethi personally stepped in to claim it and ensured she was laid to rest with respect. Many on social media praised Sethi’s actions, contrasting them with what they saw as Chhipa Welfare Association’s insensitive handling of the case.
