Big Casts, Weak Scripts — New Pakistani Dramas That Failed to Impress Audience
Hum TV, one of Pakistan’s leading three drama channels, is known for delivering many memorable classics to mainstream audiences. However, in recent times, the channel has been producing more misses than hits. While the variety in stories has increased, the narratives often lack logic. As a result, when a drama like Ishq Murshid or Meem Se Mohabbat becomes popular, it ends up being dragged unnecessarily.
Lately, Hum TV’s latest offerings have struggled to impress viewers despite featuring star-studded casts. For instance, Masoom, starring Imran Ashraf, Sonya Hussyn, and Mikaal Zulfiqar, has just begun airing but failed to create the buzz expected from such a big production.
The recently concluded Shireen Farhad, with Farhan Saeed in the lead, passed by without making much impact. Similarly, Agar Tum Saath Ho, featuring the trending on-screen couple Mawra Hocane and Ameer Gilani, met the same fate and failed to attract significant attention.
On the other hand, ARY Digital’s new drama Biryani also had a lukewarm start, with low views for its first episode. It remains to be seen whether it will gain momentum as the series progresses.
With numerous dramas launching and ending across channels—particularly on Hum TV—it’s clear that weak scripts are preventing these shows from becoming major successes.
