Coolie ending explained: Who is Aamir Khan’s Dahaa?

Coolie, starring superstar Rajinikanth, hit theaters on Thursday, just before the long Independence Day weekend. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film features big names like Nagarjuna, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan. However, the talk of the town is Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s surprise cameo, marking his Tamil debut.

What Happens at the End of Coolie?

Coolie follows Deva (played by Rajinikanth) as he joins the gang of Simon (Nagarjuna) to seek revenge for the death of his friend Rajashekhar (Sathyaraj). Simon is revealed to be part of a global crime syndicate led by a mysterious figure named Daaha.

In the film’s climax, Aamir Khan appears as Daaha, accompanied by Mahesh Manjrekar, who plays his father. Both have connections to Deva and Simon’s past, including a violent event from 35 years ago. When Daaha recognizes Deva, he lets him and his men go after they destroy Simon’s operations. Daaha’s father, Kaakar (Manjrekar), is scared and agrees to protect Deva’s workers.

Daaha then invites Deva to join him, but Deva remains undecided.

Is Coolie Part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU)?

Fans expected Coolie to connect with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s popular LCU films like Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. These movies share characters and stories. However, Coolie is not linked to this universe.

Lokesh confirmed during promotions that Coolie stands alone. Unlike Leo, it does not have a post-credits scene connecting it to other LCU movies. Also, Aamir’s character Daaha is unrelated to Rolex, the main villain in the LCU films played by Suriya.

About Coolie’s Release and Success

Coolie opened with mixed reviews but is expected to do very well at the box office. The film made ₹100 crore in advance bookings, one of the highest ever for Tamil cinema. It could be Rajinikanth’s best opening yet and might challenge Leo’s records.

Along with Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan, the cast includes Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj.
