Shah Rukh Khan Joins Billionaire Club, Surpasses Global Stars Like Tom Cruise and Taylor Swift

02 October, 2025 12:18

Mumbai, October 2, 2025 – Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has officially joined the billionaire club, making him one of the world’s richest actors for the first time. According to the Hurun India Rich List 2025, the 59-year-old actor’s net worth is now estimated at $1.4 billion (£1.03bn).

This puts him ahead of global icons such as Tom Cruise, while placing him in the same league as Taylor Swift ($1.6bn), Rihanna, Tiger Woods, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

How Shah Rukh Khan Became a Billionaire

Known as the “King of Romance” in Bollywood, Khan has spent more than three decades in the Hindi film industry. Over the years, he transformed from a leading actor to a successful businessman with strong stakes in two major ventures:

  • Red Chillies Entertainment – His film production and VFX company

  • Knight Rider Sports – Owner of the IPL cricket franchise Kolkata Knight Riders

In addition, Khan continues to earn from blockbuster films, high-value brand endorsements, and global real estate investments.

Bollywood Names on the Hurun Rich List 2025

Along with Shah Rukh Khan, other Bollywood celebrities and their families made it to this year’s Hurun list:

  • Juhi Chawla & family – $880 million

  • Hrithik Roshan – $260 million

  • Karan Johar – $200 million

  • Amitabh Bachchan & family – $183 million

Film director Karan Johar also made headlines in 2024 when he sold a 50% stake in Dharma Productions to billionaire Adar Poonawala for $119 million.

Entertainment Industry Driving Wealth in India

Anas Rahman Junaid, founder of Hurun India, explained that Khan’s billionaire status reflects a shift in India’s economy. Wealth is now being created not just in IT, banking, and manufacturing, but also in sports, entertainment, and IP-driven businesses.

Junaid compared this transformation to the United States, where billionaires now include athletes, media moguls, and celebrities like Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, and Beyoncé.

India’s Growing Billionaire Count

India now has over 350 billionaires, with Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani continuing to hold the top two positions. Shah Rukh Khan’s entry into this exclusive club highlights how India’s cultural icons are also becoming global financial powerhouses.
