Humaira Arshad Criticizes Fawad Khan’s Role as Judge on Pakistan Idol

Fawad Khan, a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, initially rose to fame as a singer before successfully transitioning into acting. Having appeared in films across both Pakistan and India, Khan has largely been seen in advertisements in recent years, leaving many fans nostalgic for his earlier musical work.

Now, he has returned to his musical roots by joining the judging panel of Pakistan Idol Season 2, a show that has introduced remarkable new talent across multiple cities.

Alongside Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Bilal Maqsood, and Zeb Bangash, Fawad Khan is helping select contestants for the main competition, marking a notable moment as he steps back into the music spotlight.

However, his appointment as a judge has sparked criticism from prominent Pakistani singer Humaira Arshad. Speaking on Hina Niazi’s show, Arshad expressed her dissatisfaction with Khan’s role on the panel.

She stated, “I understand sponsors may want him but a person should know their own limitations and decline such an offer.” Arshad further explained that while Khan could participate as a celebrity guest, judging singing requires a certain expertise. She remarked, “If a participant asked him to sing a Taan, he will not be able to oblige. Thus celebrities should not be judging singing.”

Humaira Arshad’s comments reflect a broader debate in Pakistan’s music industry regarding the suitability of celebrities without strong musical backgrounds serving as judges in talent competitions.
