Lahore: Dr Nabiha Ali Khan, the well-known psychologist, media personality, and activist, recently tied the knot with her longtime friend Haris Khokhar. The couple’s Nikkah ceremony was held at Maulana Tariq Jamil’s residence, sparking public attention and online debates about the event’s conduct.

Dr Nabiha Ali Khan had invited numerous social media influencers to her wedding, and videos from the ceremony quickly went viral. Many questioned why Maulana Tariq Jamil, a respected religious scholar, was seated beside the couple during the Nikkah. The celebrations, including singing and video recordings, also drew criticism for taking place in the Maulana’s home.

Maulana Yousaf Jamil Responds

In response, Maulana Yousaf Jamil, son of Maulana Tariq Jamil, defended his father and commented on Dr Nabiha’s conduct. He explained that his father has solemnized thousands of Nikkahs over the years and treats brides like his daughters.

He said, “My father is not a young man of 30 anymore. He is old and soft-hearted. Sitting beside the bride is not wrong. He never stops anyone from celebrating, but some actions should have been avoided.”

Maulana Yousaf added that he personally did not know Dr Nabiha Ali Khan before the wedding and had only met her during the ceremony. He also suggested that while Dr Nabiha wanted to celebrate her Nikkah, she should have been more mindful of the environment, avoiding excessive singing and videos in Maulana Tariq Jamil’s residence.
