'Made in Korea': Major Update as Season One Nears Premiere
Disney+ has announced a major update for its highly anticipated crime drama Made in Korea, revealing that the show has been renewed for a second season even before its debut. This exciting news was unveiled at the Disney+ Originals Preview event held at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
The series, which is set to premiere on December 24 on Disney+, stars Hyun Bin as Baek Kitae, a KCIA agent leading a double life as a smuggler. Other key roles include Jung Woosung as Prosecutor Jang Geonyoung, and Woo Dohwan as Baek Kitae’s brother, Baek Kihyun.
In a statement, Disney+ confirmed the renewal for Season Two, slated for release in late 2026. The renewal comes as anticipation for the show continues to grow, with fans eagerly awaiting its premiere later this month.
Set in 1970s Korea, Made in Korea follows the story of Baek Kitae, an ambitious KCIA agent who uses his illicit smuggling activities to climb the ranks within the agency while also protecting his brother and amassing wealth. However, his rise to power is challenged when he faces off against Prosecutor Jang Geonyoung, an incorruptible figure in the law enforcement world, setting the stage for a tense, high-stakes battle between the two men.
The show is directed by Woo Minho, with the script written by Park Eunkyo and Park Joonseok. The unique blend of crime, drama, and historical elements has made Made in Korea one of the most anticipated Disney+ originals of the year.
Fans can expect thrilling action, complex characters, and a compelling storyline as the series takes them through the underworld of 1970s Korea, with its intricate mix of crime noir and political intrigue.
As the premiere date draws near, Made in Korea promises to be a significant addition to Disney+’s growing collection of international hits.
