Bhavya Gandhi Refutes Engagement Rumors with Co-Star Munmun Dutta

Mumbai: Actor Bhavya Gandhi, famous for playing Tappu in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), has dismissed recent rumors claiming he is engaged to his co-star Munmun Dutta, who plays Babita Ji.

The rumors resurfaced in November 2025, suggesting the two were engaged in Vadodara, Bhavya’s hometown. This caused confusion and upset his family.

Laughing off the speculation, Bhavya said, “There was nothing in it,” and explained that the rumors had caused distress to his mother, who received multiple calls congratulating her on the supposed engagement. He recalled her reaction: “She replied, ‘Don’t you understand what you’re saying? Are you out of your mind?’”

Bhavya explained that the rumors likely started from a misreported or exaggerated social media post and may have been mixed up with other cast members. He also clarified that there has never been a romantic relationship between him and Munmun Dutta, noting the age difference and emphasizing that their bond has always been professional and friendly.

The actor criticized media exaggeration, saying minor details were turned into a sensational story. “They added mirch-masala (spice) to the story,” he said.

Bhavya’s statement puts an end to fan theories about an off-screen romance, making it clear that the engagement news was completely false.
