Sonakshi Sinha denies ongoing pregnancy rumours

Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who has always kept her personal life private, recently addressed the pregnancy rumours with her usual humor.

During a chat, the 38-year-old said: “I didn’t take any jab. The media only keep taking jabs at me.”

Speaking to News18 Showsha, she denied the rumours and added: “They keep thinking I’m pregnant! If and when I am, I’ll be the first to tell the world: ‘Guys, abb main pregnant hoon, chup ho jaao’ (laughs).” She explained that people often make assumptions on their own.

Sonakshi also spoke about the belief that marriage slows down women’s careers. She highlighted how past female actors made it easier for the next generation.

She said: “They – the women actors of the generation before mine – walked so that we could run. Today, I can’t even imagine that because I’m married, I wouldn’t be able to work. That thought wouldn’t even cross my mind. I simply can’t think in that direction. Marriage is a part of life – as it should be.”

She added: “Marriage doesn’t bring a halt to any other profession either. If a female journalist is getting married, she won’t suddenly stop working. There won’t be any pause in her professional life. Hats off to the women actors who came before us for paving the way.”

The rumours started again after a viral clip where her husband Zaheer Iqbal jokingly touched her stomach. Sonakshi moved his hand away and laughed, while he said: “Mazaak kar rahe hain. We are just joking.”
