Ashoke Pandit slams Jaya Bachchan over paparazzi comments

Jaya Bachchan has once again become a topic of discussion after her latest comment about the paparazzi. Her statement has encouraged many celebrities to share their honest views on the issue.

The veteran actress, known for always speaking her mind, recently talked about her equation with the paparazzi. In an exclusive interview with We The Women Asia on Monday, December 1, Jaya shared her thoughts on journalism and how it has changed over the years.

She said, “My relationship with the media is fantastic; I am the product of media. But my relationship with the paparazzi is zero,” and then added, “Who are these people? Are they trained to be representative of this country? You call them media! I come from the media; my father was a journalist.”

Her strong remarks quickly caught attention. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit reacted on Instagram, criticizing the Sholay star for being “snobbish” and “classist.”

While he agreed that aggressive media behavior can be problematic, he said that disrespecting the whole profession is wrong.

Pandit commented, “Jaya Bachchan ji’s statement against the paparazzi reeks of snobbish elitism. To criticize the aggressive coverage of certain paps is one thing, but to demean the profession altogether, laced with downright classist remarks, is unbecoming of such a senior member of our film industry and a parliamentarian.”

He also pointed out that many paparazzi photographers are hardworking professionals who appear only when celebrities themselves call or allow them.
