Nida Yasir Apologised to Delivery Riders After Controversial Remarks
TV host Nida Yasir has addressed the controversy that erupted following her comments about delivery riders, offering an unconditional apology to the rider community in a video message that has been circulating widely on social media.
In her statement, Nida clarified that she never intended to generalize all riders. “I should have said that only a few riders act tricky,” she explained, adding that she holds deep appreciation for the work delivery riders do.
The backlash emerged after Nida discussed the common issue of delivery riders claiming they do not have change during cash transactions. During an episode of Good Morning Pakistan, she suggested that when riders are asked to bring change and are made to wait, the delay helps them understand how this habit affects their subsequent deliveries.
“When they’re made to wait and end up reaching their next deliveries late, then they understand. It’s become a habit with many of them now,” she said during the segment.
Her remarks, shared alongside guests Nadia Khan, Saima Qureshi, and Rabab Masood, sparked mixed reactions online. While some viewers agreed with her viewpoint, others criticized the comments for overlooking the challenges and time pressures delivery workers face. Many urged greater empathy and proposed practical solutions such as digital payments, tipping options, or keeping exact change on hand.
The conversation on the show remained light-hearted, with Nadia Khan and the other guests sharing examples and humorous nods based on their own experiences. However, the online reaction prompted Nida to clarify her stance and extend her apology.
