Peter Greene of ‘The Mask’ Passes Away: How He Died

Peter Greene, best known for his villain roles as Zed in “Pulp Fiction” and Dorian Tyrell in “The Mask,” has died at the age of 60.

Greene was found unresponsive in his Lower East Side apartment in Manhattan on Friday after neighbors reported hearing loud Christmas music for several days. A wellness check revealed him face down on the floor with facial injuries and blood present.

Police said no foul play is suspected, and the New York City medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Greene had a history of drug addiction in the 1990s, including struggles with heroin and cocaine, a 1996 suicide attempt, and a 2007 arrest for crack cocaine possession. No reports are linking these issues to his death.

His longtime manager, Gregg Edwards, described the passing as a shock and called Greene a talented character actor with upcoming projects, noting his gentle off-screen personality.

Fans paid tribute to Greene on social media, quoting the iconic line from Pulp Fiction: “Zed’s dead, baby. Zed’s dead.”

Other fans shared personal memories, including one who said, “Met him when I first moved to LA in 2000. He was a very nice, very bright dude… RIP.” Another wrote, “One of the first movies I’ve seen when I was a kid. Sad RIP.”
