Leonardo DiCaprio Says He Has No Plans to Become a Director
Leonardo DiCaprio has shared a big update about his future plans in the film industry. The Titanic star recently said that he has no plans to become a director anytime soon.
He talked about this during a conversation with famous filmmaker Martin Scorsese at the A Year In TIME event in New York City on December 10.
Leonardo explained that many people have asked him if he wants to direct a movie in the near future. Responding to this, he said, “I’m like, ‘I would never want to direct. I could never do anything close to what Martin does. Why would I do that?’”, as quoted by PEOPLE.
The 51-year-old actor also shared that he sometimes likes to look back at his old films and think about the movie-making process at that time. He said, “You play these characters; you try to get into the depth of their soul as much as you possibly can.”
However, the Shutter Island actor added that he would prefer to watch and learn rather than direct himself. He said he would like to be “much more of a voyeur” to see how Martin Scorsese works behind the camera.
Looking back, Leonardo said, “If I look back on anything, I would’ve loved to have observed that process behind the camera a lot more.”
During the conversation, Leonardo also praised Martin Scorsese, with whom he has worked on six films. He said working with the legendary director has been “absolutely one of the most profound learning experiences” of his career.
