January 13, 2026 — OnlyFans star Sophie Rain has publicly responded to Florida gubernatorial candidate James Fishback over his controversial proposal to tax 50% of income for OnlyFans creators.
What James Fishback Proposed
Fishback, 31, a Republican and CEO of investment firm Azoria, labeled OnlyFans an “online degeneracy platform”. He announced in an interview with NXR Studios that, if elected Governor, he would implement a 50% “sin tax” on earnings of adult content creators.
He justified the plan by stating:
The tax would discourage what he considers immoral behavior.
He wants to prevent young women from selling sexual content online, promoting family values instead.
Sophie Rain was specifically tagged: “Pay up or quit OnlyFans.”
Currently, Fishback is a political newcomer, polling at roughly 3%, far behind frontrunner Byron Donalds.
Sophie Rain’s Response
Rain, 21, one of the platform’s top creators, earning over $95 million last year, fired back on X: “Targeting a group of individuals using their job to survive when there are multibillion-dollar businesses that don’t pay taxes is insane.”
Key points from her response:
She is a devout Christian and virgin, calling out the hypocrisy of Fishback’s claims.
She already pays 37% in taxes and would support higher taxes if large corporations were also taxed fairly.
Many creators rely on OnlyFans to support their families; heavy taxation would harm struggling individuals.
She expressed disbelief at being personally called out: “Never in my whole life did I think that I would wake up and see a Florida politician start beef at me for clout.”
The debate underscores ongoing tensions over adult content, digital work, and taxation policies. Sophie Rain’s stance highlights the economic realities faced by OnlyFans creators, while Fishback’s proposal has sparked a national conversation about morality, work, and digital entrepreneurship.
