Actor and singer Prashant Tamang’s sudden demise on January 11, 2026, left the entertainment industry and his fans in deep shock. As tributes continue to pour in across social media, Tamang’s close friend and fellow artist Meiyang Chang has spoken about the late singer’s renewed optimism and future plans, recalling how excited he was about his professional comeback.
In an interaction with IANS, Meiyang Chang shared that Prashant Tamang was entering a promising phase of his career and was particularly enthusiastic about his upcoming projects. He revealed that Tamang was thrilled about sharing screen space with Salman Khan in the much-anticipated film Battle of Galwan. Meiyang noted that his friend was eagerly looking forward to this opportunity and had also planned to meet friends in Mumbai for a small gathering. He said:
“His recent work in Paatal Lok Season 2 and the upcoming film with Salman Khan were big milestones in his career. Prashant was extremely happy and excited about this phase. The news came as a huge shock because we were all busy with our work and had planned to meet in Mumbai this week. Prashant had mentioned that he needed to return as some dubbing work was pending for Galwan.”
Reflecting further, Meiyang spoke about their long-standing friendship and the repeated plans they made to catch up, which sadly never materialised. He shared that they had last met in November 2025 and were hoping to reunite again in January 2026. Recalling their bond, he stated:
“We had plans to meet that had been discussed for a long time. We had last met in November, and the idea was to meet again in January, but that never happened. He was also shooting with Salman Khan, which made the news even more difficult to process. At just 43, he was far too young to leave us. We shared a long and deep friendship, and we cared for each other deeply.”
Meiyang Chang also expressed deep concern for Prashant Tamang’s family, especially his wife and daughter. Having just returned from the funeral in Darjeeling, where friends and batchmates gathered to pay their last respects, Meiyang said his priority now was supporting Tamang’s loved ones. He shared:
“Right now, my only wish is strength for his family. His wife and daughter mean a lot to us, and we will try our best to support them in every possible way. This was truly not the time for him to go. It is a huge loss. What makes it even more painful is that this phase marked his strong return to the mainstream. He had done Indian Idol 20 years ago, worked on many shows, travelled extensively, and acted in Nepali films.”
Remembering his friend fondly, Meiyang recalled conversations during the audition phase of Paatal Lok, noting how Prashant’s simple and genuine questions reflected his personality. He described Tamang as a “very kind, gentle, and respectful person” who treated everyone equally, regardless of their status in the industry. Meiyang concluded by saying that Prashant Tamang had a long and bright future ahead as an actor—one that was tragically cut short.
