Why Meghan Trainor Chose Surrogacy for Her Third Baby

Meghan Trainor surprised fans in early 2026 with heartwarming news: she and her husband, Daryl Sabara, welcomed their third child, a daughter named Mikey Moon, via surrogate on January 18, 2026. This marked a joyous milestone for the Grammy-winning singer, who has already been in the public eye for her 60-pound weight loss in 2025. While fans celebrated, many were curious if her decision to use a surrogate was connected to her transformation.

In an exclusive interview, Meghan explained the reasoning behind her choice: “It wasn’t our first choice, but we had endless conversations with our doctors on this journey, and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family. I want people to know that surrogacy is just another beautiful way to build a family. It’s not something to whisper about or judge.” Meghan and Daryl are already parents to sons Riley and Barry, both of whom she carried herself. Her previous pregnancies were physically challenging, including postpartum struggles, gestational diabetes, and NICU experiences that led to trauma and PTSD.

Meghan also praised the surrogate, describing her as “one of the most selfless, strong, and loving people” she has ever met, adding that they developed a close bond throughout the pregnancy. She clarified that her decision was entirely based on medical safety and not related to her recent weight loss. “I was lying there alone while my baby was in the NICU. That was traumatic,” she recalled, reflecting on her first pregnancy.

Alongside family life, Meghan is continuing her career. She will release her seventh studio album, Toy With Me, on April 24, 2026, and begin The Get In Girl Tour in June. Additionally, she mentors on The Voice and hosts her podcast, Workin’ On It, alongside her brother Ryan Trainor.
