Mouni Roy Harassed at Haryana Event, Male Members Show Lewd Behavior
Mouni Roy, one of India’s most prominent actresses, recently made headlines for raising concerns about female safety after facing harassment at a public event in Haryana. The actress, who made her television debut in 2006 with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and has since established herself as a leading face in the entertainment industry, addressed the incident on her Instagram, questioning how such behaviour goes unchecked. Mouni married Suraj Nambiar in 2022 and has continued to be a role model for her fans.
Harassment Incident at the Event
While attending the event in Haryana, Mouni Roy revealed that she was harassed by two elderly men on stage. “She said that the family members came on the stage and all the males started touching her waist, which she didn’t like and asked them to stop.” The men reportedly continued making lewd hand gestures and comments, even throwing roses at the actress. Despite the disturbance, Mouni completed her performance, highlighting the lack of accountability at the event.
Mouni Questions Safety and Accountability
Mouni further expressed frustration at the ease with which the men were able to capture inappropriate videos:
“Have to also mention that the stage was on a height and these uncles were making videos low angel. When someone asked them to stop they abused em. I love my country our people our traditions but this? The guts. The entitlement of being men. O never put up anything negative i go through. But this. Have no words. Have no expression or abuse that would make any sense for this behaviour. We as actors go to these events to wish the bride and the groom to add to their celebration. We are their guests and they harass us like this. Yuk.”
Mouni questioned how such actions are justified, especially when new performers may face similar harassment, showing her concern for the safety of women in the industry.
