Bijou Phillips Hospitalised, Back on Dialysis, Seeks Kidney Donor for Second Transplant

Bijou Mary Phillips, the former actress, singer, model, and socialite, has recently made headlines due to her ongoing battle with kidney failure. The daughter of musicians John Phillips and Genevieve Waite, Bijou was hospitalised following a serious health scare and is currently undergoing dialysis. From her hospital bed, she shared an emotional update with fans, seeking help to find a kidney donor.

Bijou Phillips needs a second kidney transplant
On February 11, 2026 (ET), Bijou took to social media to provide a detailed update about her health. She mentioned her daughter, Fianna, and emphasised the urgency of her situation, writing:
“I need help finding a kidney. I’m asking as a friend, a sister, an aunt, and most importantly, a single mother to an incredible and brave daughter. I was born with underdeveloped kidneys and spent the first three months of life in the NICU on dialysis.”

This is not Bijou’s first transplant. In 2017, a friend donated a kidney to her, granting her eight valuable years with her daughter. However, complications, including the BK virus, led to cellular and antibody rejection, bringing her back to dialysis. She explained:
“In 2017, I received the incredible gift of a kidney from a dear friend. That transplant gave me 8 precious years to be a mother to my daughter—but I have had many complications since, including the BK virus which led to both a cellular and antibody rejection.”

The BK virus, according to the National Kidney Foundation, is latent in most people but can reactivate in organ recipients taking anti-rejection medication. Symptoms include seizures, muscle pain, fever, and breathing difficulties.

Bijou Phillips is urgently seeking a kidney donor
Currently under the care of Dr. Anjay Rastogi at UCLA, Bijou is appealing to her fans to help her find a living donor so she can spend more time with her daughter, family, and friends. She wrote:
“I am currently under the care of Dr Anjay Rastogi at UCLA and back on dialysis. Please help me find a living donor so that I can have more time with my daughter, family, and friends. I am so grateful for your support. Time is of the essence.”

Bijou’s representative previously confirmed that she was born with underdeveloped kidneys and had been privately managing her condition with dialysis and a stress-free vegan lifestyle. Despite her efforts, she now faces the urgent need for a second kidney transplant.
