Sarwat Gilani breaks Silence on Jealousy in Pakistani Showbiz
Sarwat Gilani has breaks her silence on professional jealousy and the lack of public support within the Pakistani showbiz industry.
In recent Faizan Syed in a clip from his podcast Digitales uploaded on Tuesday, where Sarwat Gilani appeared expressed her disappointment over the heightened jealousy within the industry, revealing that no one congratulated her on the success of Churails or Joyland. The actress pointed out that the real issue is that people often cannot tolerate the success of others.
She said: “No one in my industry celebrated the success of Churails.” Alongside this, she also reflected on the challenges faced by the critically acclaimed film Joyland in the same interview.

According to Sarwat Gilani, when Asim Abbasi’s Churails released in 2020, she is one of the leads in the show, wasn’t appreciated by members of Pakistan’s entertainment fraternity.
Gilani recalled meeting a “very prominent actor” in Dubai who didn’t even bother to bring up her critically acclaimed film Joyland — Pakistan’s first film to be shortlisted for an Academy Award. She said her manager ended up mentioning it, to which the other actor replied saying, “Five, I am bringing five films to festivals.”
She said she had stopped calling herself a celebrity because celebrities need to be celebrated.
Despite winning prestigious awards at international festivals, the film faced significant opposition at home.
The star criticized the culture of following trends rather than supporting original and bold narratives.
This speech has flickered a huge discussion about the cheap nature of the Pakistani media landscape.

In another clip from the episode, the actor lamented the way women are portrayed in Pakistani dramas, saying, “How does [the girl] keep falling for such a man, ‘This hero hits me, he’s the crown atop my head.’ For God’s sake, he’s hitting you, cursing at you, disrespecting your parents.”
After that the host of that podcast ask her about the other way of women appearance on screen, Sarwat Gilani answered that there is no need to show a women as weak person, you should show about her achievement her struggles to become a successful woman and make her life a way better than that the state of oppression and misery.
She said the way to inspire a nation was by “telling your own stories”.
She has personally moved away from scripts that do not empower women or offer something new.Despite the industry’s internal friction, Sarwat Gilani remains committed to her craft and her values.
