Veteran Actor Shujaat Hashmi Laid to Rest in Lahore

Renowned Pakistani film, TV, and voice actor Shujaat Hashmi was laid to rest in a local cemetery in Lahore following his passing on Friday. The actor and singer had been undergoing hospital treatment for several days prior to his death. Hashmi first rose to prominence through his iconic role as Maulad in the popular drama serial Waris, a performance that earned him nationwide recognition.

His artistic journey began in 1967 at the Chaklala Center in Rawalpindi, marking the start of a career that would leave a lasting impression on multiple generations. After establishing himself in PTV dramas, Hashmi entered the film industry in 1975 with his debut in Chad Bra Di Yaari. In 1979, he played a highly acclaimed lead role in the film Khak Aur Khoon, which was followed by an extensive portfolio of successful film and television projects.

In 1994, Hashmi was honored with the Pride of Performance award for his distinguished contributions to the field of acting. His funeral prayers in Lahore were attended by relatives and numerous figures from the showbiz industry. With his passing, a golden chapter of the Pakistani entertainment industry has come to an end, though his artistic legacy and the memories of his diverse characters will endure.
