Malayalam Filmmaker Ranjith Arrested In Sexual Assault Charges

Ranjith a prominent Malayalam director-producer has been arrested in sexual assault charges after an actress accused him, and sent him 14-days judicial custody.

April 1, on Wednesday at Kochi, A court sent noted Malayalam film director Ranjith to judicial custody after he was arrested late last night in connection with an attempted sexual assault case.

Reportedly, he was initially by the police at Thodupuzha, And this is not the first time he faces this dreadful event, it’s his third time that the 61-year-old director has faced sexual harassment.

Police reported that, the woman actor alleged that the director had invited her to a caravan during the shooting of a film and attempted to sexually harass her.

Her statement was recorded at a Women’s Police Station earlier this week, following which police moved quickly to take action. Officials said the case registration and initial proceedings were conducted with extreme confidentiality.

Later, Ranjith was taken to Ernakulam General Hospital for a mandatory medical examination and consequently produced before a magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
