Islamabad Court Grants Dr Fazeela Abbasi Interim Pre-Arrest Bail
Di Fazeela Abbasi in a case registered under blasphemy and cybercrime laws, an Islamabad court had granted interim pre-arrest bail. The court directed her to join the investigation and required the case record.
Special Judge Central Humayun Dilwar, granted relief on Monday, and directed Dr Fazeela to cooperate fully with the investigation
Miss Abbassi appeared before the court along with her counsel Naeem Bukhari and filed a pre-arrest bail application, during the hearing. The court approved her interim bail against guarantee pledges worth Rs50,000 and ordered her to cooperate with investigators. The matter was adjourned till April 15 for further proceedings.
The development came after a first information report was registered against Abbasi under provisions related to blasphemy and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act. The case was lodged at Islamabad’s Ramna police station.
Following the dismissal, Abbasi approached the IHC, which granted her interim relief and allowed her to seek remedy before the trial court.
According to officials, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered two cases against Abbasi concerning the alleged running of an illegal clinic. She is also facing a separate money laundering case, in which she is currently on bail.
