I wanted to take some time off because at this point, I don’t know what’s happening. I spent weeks just thinking, what’s wrong? Am I doing something wrong? Should I reinvent myself? Do I need to do things differently? And I realized that people just hate happy women. Most of them are from our own fraternity. People pull us down, and I am not saying just men; women would pull us down too. Of course, people hate on us because they want us to fit into the mould that they have for us in their minds.”

Aamir also complained the growing culture of judgement on social media, mainly among women. Mentioning to posts that pit women against each other, she asked why similar comparisons are rarely made between men, signifying that such content fuels pointless rivalry.

“The real problem is when we think, what will people say, which is a very old concept. We talk a lot about not caring about what people say, but it has all just shifted from relatives and family to Instagram. We’re still pitting women against each other, still labeling them as dark-skinned, fair-skinned, fat, or thin. The hate is not good for women, and I appeal to women as well—it’s not making sense anymore because you’re just aimlessly pointing fingers. I have recently seen women being bullied just for existing; they are not even saying anything. Stop gaslighting and bullying people in general. Let them be whoever they are, please; everyone can’t be the same.”
