Asha Bhosle Dies at 92 After brief hospitalization

Famous and Legendary playback Indian singer Asha Bhosle has passed away hours after being moved to a hospital on Saturday 11 April 2026. Reports claimed that, the 92-years-old singer had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday after experiencing cardiac and respiratory issues and was shifted to the intensive care unit later that night.

Earlier her death her family revealed in statement that the reason behind her hospitalization was “extreme exhaustion” and “chest infection”.

Bhosle’s granddaughter wrote in the announcement shared on April 11.

She wrote, “My grandmother, Asha Bhosle due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection has been admitted to hospital and we request you to value our privacy. Treatment is ongoing and hopefully everything will be well and we shall update you positively.”

The last rites will take place at Shivaji Park at 4 pm. Her funeral remains will be kept at her residence from 11 am to 3 pm tomorrow.

Asha Bhosle has recorded thousands of songs in many languages. She started singing in 1943 and went on to become one of the most versatile voices in Indian music. She has received top honors like the Padma Vibhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Born on 8 September 1933.
