A weird fan act during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) IPL win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 18 has got social media talking, starting new talks about old beliefs in cricket.
The video that is now everywhere comes from the 17th over of CSK’s chase for 194 runs. It shows Shivam Dube ready to face SRH bowler Sakib Hussain. Just before, a fan in the crowd is seen turning a lemon, talking quietly, and pointing at the pitch – right away called a lucky or unlucky spell by people online.
Hussain bowled a fast yorker that hit Dube’s stumps straight on, leaving the CSK player shocked. The perfect timing sent the video big on X, where lots of people joked the fan’s “black magic” got the wicket.
Then came a fake letter, said to be from Chennai Super Kings Private Limited to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), hitting out at fan tricks.
“Our players were repeatedly subjected to disturbing incidents where certain sections of the audience were seen… engaging in black magic, voodoo rituals, and other occult practices,” the notice claims.

Checks for truth, like Grok’s look, say it’s not real, and CSK or BCCI have said nothing.
People on X fired off funny comebacks. “Very funny to see these kind of letters, whether it is real or fake I don’t know. Team choices, environment, player moods and captaincy also matters in winning matches. Bring THALA back so that team can get motivated back,” one said.

“Lol. Kids do the same while watching TV, that guy most probably’ve done multiple takes and put the only video in which wicket was taken. Otherwise there’s no such thing as black magic. CSK should be confident on their game because this they cannot stop,” another hit back.
The jokes got bigger: “CSK really filed a complaint instead of booking that guy for every match. Next auction category: All-rounder, Finisher… and one full-time priest! 😭😂,” plus “Quirrell hexing Harry Potter’s broom during Quidditch Cup.”
IPL games keep coming fast, but this funny event shows how one fan’s trick can take over the news.
