Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Pakistan’s First Film City in Lahore

Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has announced the project which include world-class studios and sound stages, advanced visual effects, in the establishment of Punjab Film City covering approx. 50 acres in Nawaz Sharif IT City, Lahore.

According to CM the Film City project is being positioned as Pakistan’s first fully “end-to-end” media production hub. Expected the aim to support Pakistan’s film industry through modern technology, advanced facilities and integrated resources. State-of-the-art infrastructure for film, television, animation and digital media will be provided under one roof.

Punjab CM said that the project will include world-class studios and sound stages, advanced visual effects (VFX) and post-production laboratories, diverse backlots featuring a central lake, and a purpose-built convention hall for hosting international award shows. A media trade hub, as well as film and music schools, will also be part of the initiative.

The chief minister directed that this project would create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, while promoting growth in animation, gaming and digital media sectors.

She called it, this will be a noteworthy step towards the creative economy establishment, as well as the Film City will unite talent, technology, and business on one platform. The project will be finished in stages, with additional information to be announced in the near future.
