Pakistani Actor Tipu Sharif Criticizes Stray Dog Killing Policy

Pakistani actor Tipu Sharif’s recent interview received support on his view about stray dogs, during interview the actor slammed government’s stray dogs killing policy and urged people to show more concern toward harsh treatment of animals. Sharif complained the exercise of animal removing, saying society does not help to the similar tactic when humans commit crimes.

He raise a question about logic of eliminating entire animal populations because of the actions of a single animal or a few individuals. Even though human communities do not face communal punishment for dreadful criminalities like child abuse.

Sharif asked, “Tell me this, if you can kill all dogs after one bites someone, then if a human rapes a little girl, will you punish all of humanity? Will you give that same punishment to all humans.”

The actor shows concern on the poor safety standards and compassion for stray animals, and tells that he saw with own eyes, that people intentionally running cars over sleeping dogs and groups of boys throwing heavy stones at them, which seems very disturbing for him.

While addressing the issue, the host asked that it is common for stray dogs to be poisoned on the streets, to answer the question the actor said “KMC [Karachi Metropolitan Corporation] they come on a bike, throw poison, and leave and then they carry the dead bodies away the next morning.”

The interview goes viral on internet generate different public reactions, with many expressing opposing views on the balance between animal welfare and public safety in Pakistan.

Many viewers supported Sharif, calling him a “Great man” and said “Innocent dogs face punishment while human criminals walk free.” Users highlighted that people unnecessarily mistreat and disturb animals while sleeping, despite posing no threat, arguing that if “Culling is the chosen solution for animal aggression, the same logic should apply to human offenders, given that men commit the majority of abuse and assault cases against women and children.”

Another agreed, stating, “Yes plz! Louder! This level of mental sickness and evilness can’t be treated plz get rid of them asap to protect other children.”
