Pakistani Actors Who Spoke Out for Kashmiris as Others Remained Silent

The Pakistan-administered region of Karshmir, Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), has remained tense in the aftermath of the 2026 elections. Polling was held across the two days ago, however, protests began after many voters alleged that the elections had been rigged. Protestors claimed that their votes and what they called for respect for the people’s vote.

Viciousness intensified after bangs were reported among protestors and security forces. Citizens and protesters said police used force during efforts to diffuse the protests. In the meantime, activists and social media users have claimed that more than 28 Kashmiris were killed during the clashes. These reports could not be independently verified.

A number of Pakistani actors, including Mishi Khan, Madiha Rizvi, Sabeena Farooq, Durrefishan Saleem, Hania Aamir, Kinza Hashmi, Samar Jafri, Nameer Khan, Osman Khalid Butt, Ali Raza, Aiman Khan, Minal Khan, Ahsan Mohsin Ikram, Nadia Afghan, Hina Afridi, Hira Khan, Komal Meer, and Tamkenat, have reacted publicly to the ongoing unrest. Many have used their social media boards to share videos and updates, voicing alarm over online reports of a rising death toll.

As the situation in AJK remains tense, the silence of several well-known Pakistani actors has also drawn criticism from many social media users. Names such as Mahira Khan, Wahaj Ali, Maya Ali, Yumna Zaidi, Iqra Aziz, Danish Taimoor, Feroze Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Humayun Saeed, Fahad Mustafa, Fawad Khan, Bilal Abbas Khan, Dananeer, Nadia Khan, Atiqa Odho, Marina Khan, Shaista Lodhi, Aijaz Aslam, and Bushra Ansari have been mentioned by users.

Lots of users pointed out that some stars had earlier spoken about demonstrations at Jantar Mantar in India. They are now curious why those same public figures have not mentioned on the current situation in AJK. Some actors have nonstop sharing regular social media posts on unconnected topics, leading to further dispute and criticism online.
