European Film Festival Returns to Pakistan for Fifth Edition

Pakistan is gearing up for the fifth edition of the European Film Festival (EUFF) this month, showcasing European films in three Pakistani cities for the first time.

The festival will take place in Islamabad Sialkot and Jamshoro from September 12 to 30 which is organized by the European Union’s delegation to Pakistan.

The EUFF will is set to open in Islamabad, the festival’s host city since in 2021 in Pakistan. The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will screen films on September 12 and 13.

The festival will moving to it second step at Sialkot with event schedule September 16-17.  This is the first time for Sialkot to host the festival, which is set to be screening at Government College Women University and The Grid.

After Sialkot, the festival will take place to Sindh, with Jamshoro hosting the event on September 29 and 30 Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro University of Art, Design and Heritages will serve as the venue.

The programme for this year has not yet been announced. However, previous editions have featured a mix of full-length films and short movies from different European Union countries. The festival has also included special screenings for children.

Beyond cinema, the EUFF has previously offered visitors interactive installations, dramatic readings, social dances and curated food stalls, creating a wider cultural experience.

Free and open to the public, Last year’s festival welcomed families, students, artists, diplomats and film fans bring together. The festival strive to use cinema to connect people and foster cultural exchange and dialogue.

The European Film Festival also visited cities such Quetta, Peshawar, Gilgit, Faislabd, Gujrat and Multan Since arriving in Pakistan.

With three cities on this year’s schedule, the fifth edition is set to give Pakistani audiences another opportunity to explore European cinema and culture.
