Hina Dilpazeer Reveals Why She Is Rarely Offered Serious and Diverse Roles

Hina Dilpazeer, most people know her as Momo in Bulbulay, has discussed her career journey and revealed about why she is not being considered for serious or diverse roles

During a recent interview, Dilpazeer said that good and meaningful scripts are not being offered to her. She believes typecasting and the strong “lobby system” in television play a major role.

“Serious and good scripts are simply not being offered right now. I’m looking for the reasons behind it, but I haven’t found them yet,” she said.

More added “I think the lobby system is very strong. Every channel has five to seven preferred people who wear white sherwanis for Eidul Fitr programmes and black sherwanis for Eidul Adha programmes.”

According to her, channels often prefer working with the same small group of actors, especially for special Eid programmes. However, she said this situation has also given her the freedom to reject weak scripts and wait for projects she truly likes.

“So, whenever a better time comes, and work is assigned purely on a merit basis, perhaps I will be considered for different kinds of roles as well,” the actress further added, “Looking at it now, I feel it has been a blessing in disguise. If that continuous cycle was still going on, I would have had to work on very poor scripts. Now I have a choice; I can choose not to do them. If a genuinely good script comes along, I will definitely do it, regardless of the channel.”

Dilpazeer also remembered the old PTV era, saying actors once received proper training and guidance from experienced professionals. According to her, the current industry no longer values professional discipline, language and strong writing. The she more highlighted the importance of a good script, is key to making a drama successful, while also criticized the industry for prioritizing popularity instead of quality.

Talking about Momo, Dilpazeer said the character became successful because of the combined creativity of the entire cast and crew. She also continues to learn from legendary senior actors and old television plays.

Dilpazeer remembered that her acting career started surprisingly when she was asked to switch an absent actress in a play. A spontaneous a maid’s character by copying the accent of a Bengali woman she knew. Her performance fascinated writer Fasi Bari Khan, who later offered her Burns Road Ki Nilofer, opening the door to a successful acting career.
