Parishae Adnan Breaks Silence on Nadia Khan’s ‘Rise and Shine’ Interview

Pakistani fashion designer Parishae Adnan has revealed that she had declined invitations to appear on Nadia Khan’s morning show Rise and Shine for two years.

After facing criticism, Parishae made the revelation over her appearance on the show. She said she was appreciative to have people around her who recognized that the questions asked during the interview should not have been part of the discussion. She also confessed that the experience hit her why she had earlier declined the summons.

Parishae’s appearance came shortly after she presented her collection Second Skin at Flying Solo’s showcase during New York Fashion Week. Her label was selected to close the showcase, which features independent designers as part of the fashion event.

However, instead of focusing on her collection and career, the interview turned towards Parishae’s gym videos and her choice of clothing. During the interview, as host Nadia brought up the criticism surrounding Parishae’s fitness videos and questioned whether her parents had concerns about her outfits.

In response, the designer said that while she accepted that safety remains an imperative concern, but added that the optimistic messages from people who find motivation in her fitness journey encourage her to keep going to the gym. She clarified the response from people who feel stirred by her content to start their own strength and fitness journeys are very special to her.

Parishae later shared a video showing her reaction to the interview on Instagram, adding a laughing emoji.

Her mother, designer Huma Adnan, described the questions as “uncalled for”. Actor Anika Zulfiqar also criticised the interview and suggested that Nadia should research guests before interviewing them. She said the host missed the opportunity to discuss Parishae’s professional achievements and instead focused on what she described as “basic judgy aunty questions.”
