The government has decided to constitute an inquiry committee on the Kyrgyzstan issue.

“This will be the fact-finding committee and a notification in this connection will be issued today,” Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar told a news conference.

The deputy prime minister said that the body would also tell how much role the mission played in solving the problems. He added that the committee will find out the facts and give a report within two weeks. Additional Secretary Administration Muhammad Salim will head the committee, Dar said.

The deputy prime minister said that the Kyrgyz authorities had been asked to give legal status to 1,100 Pakistanis staying there. These Pakistanis had gone there through agents and are working illegally.

So far, 3,233 students from Kyrgyzstan have returned home, Dar said and added that the Kyrgyz authorities assured that such an incident will not happen in the future. They have assured that the people involved in the incident will be brought to justice.
