IG Sindh Kaleem Imam meets Prime Minister Imran Khan

IG Sindh Kaleem Imam meets Prime Minister Imran Khan who had called him for meeting in Islamabad.

Inspector General Sindh Police Syed Kaleem Imam had reached Islamabad yesteday.

He called on PM Khan today (Wednesday).

During the meeting, top police cop of the province briefed him on overall situation.

With a smiling face, IG shared his viewpoint with Prime Minister.

PM Khan also frankly talked to him amid demand from Sindh government for transfer of Kaleem Imam.

Sources claimed that PM also sought his opinion on possibility of new assignment to him.

On the other hand, Sindh minister Saeed Ghani rejected consultation with  Sindh governor on the issue.

He said Sindh proposed five names for new IG and finally PM and CM agreed on one nominee.

He lamented that Centre transferred IG Punjab within 30 minutes but don’t transfer IG Sindh despite 30 days passage.

Controversy 

PM had summoned IG Sindh Kaleem Imam due to persisting controversy on his posting in the province.

Tuesday also witnessed war of words between Sindh government and Inspector General Police.

he federal cabinet members also raised the issue of IG Sindh police.

Federal cabinet members belonging to PTI and GDA expressed concerns over the issue of Kaleem Imam’s transfer.

Earlier, federal cabinet had handed over the matter to Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah.

Sources said that the government members from Sindh also expressed concerns over IG Sindh issue.

Because of intra-coalition pressure, cabinet decided to further consult Sindh governor and CM for finalising the IGP appointment.

While reacting to certain speculations, Kaleem Imam denied his transfer. He spoke of a conspiracy against him.

“This ceremony is being considered as my farewell ceremony […] It seems like Sindh police are trying to save its budget,” he added.

However, Sindh minister Saeed Ghani and CM’s adviser Murtaza Wahab also reiterated their opposition to his retaining as IG Sindh.
