Imran Khan to contest elections from three constituencies: PTI

20 December, 2023 22:02

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan vows to contest the upcoming general elections from three constituencies despite being jailed.

In a media talk outside Adiala Jail today, PTI chief Barrister Gohar Khan said that Imran Khan will contest polls from Lahore, Islamabad and Mianwali constituencies.

Gohar Khan opposed the top lawyers’ bodies’ demand seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja, saying his party did not make any such demand, adding he would contest polls from Buner.

PTI Senator Ali Zafar said that IHC will announce its judgment soon in the Toshakhana case, as the election schedule has been issued. Imran Khan was disqualified for five years in Toshakhana case. However, Khan’s appeal is still pending in Islamabad High Court.

Ali Zafar said that the workers who rendered sacrifices for the party will be given tickets to contest the elections 100%, adding that the remaining tickets will also be announced soon.

He also said that stopping party workers from filing nomination papers was an “undemocratic exercise” and would jeopardise free and fair elections. “We request the ECP to take action on this,” the lawyer concluded.
