For the first time in the United States, a criminal trial against a former president has begun.

Former US president Donald Trump is facing charges of giving money to the actress of pornographic films to keep her mouth shut.

The criminal trial in Donald Trump’s alleged bribery of porn star Stormy Daniels has begun and now the jury will be selected.

Trump is accused of paying Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet before the 2016 presidential election and falsifying his business records to hide the payment.

However, now the jury will decide that if Trump committed financial corruption and secretly gave $130,000 to the actor.

According to foreign media, this case against Donald Trump may last for 5 to 6 weeks. Even if convicted and jailed, he will be eligible to contest elections and assume the office of president. There are three other criminal cases against the former president.

The 77-year-old former president termed the trial as an assault on America and political persecution.

The former president has regularly rejected the charges against him as a political witch-hunt. Trump also used the legal proceedings against him to energise his base — and collect donations — amid his myriad legal woes.
