International Anti-Corruption Day being observed in Pakistan

International Anti-Corruption Day being observed in Pakistan today. It aims at raising awareness and highlight the dangerous effects of corruption.

This year theme: “Together, We Are United Against Corruption”.

Specially, the day encourages a global fight against corruption. And it also urges all governments to join hands against it.

International Anti-Corruption Day

In Pakistan, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Anti-Corruption Establishment and other organizations working for elimination of corruption, are holding special programmes today.

Moreover, they are holding seminars and walks to mark the Day.

Meanwhile, in his message on Anti-Corruption Day, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar declared corruption root cause of all problems. He blamed corruption for all problems Pakistan faces with. They include economic constraints, price-hike, unemployment and poverty.

The Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that those involved in corruption not only usurp the rights of public but also commit treason. He further said that corruption causes unrest and disappointment in society.

UN SG message

In his message on the occasion, UN Secretary-General, António Guterres has urged people around the world to continue to work on innovative solutions to win the battle against corruption. 

He also called for ensuring that precious resources serve the peoples of the world.
