Int’l Muslim students may quit studies in India

Today, India under Modi has become a place where minorities especially Muslims cannot live freely. They don’t enjoy religious freedom anymore.

Everyday, cases of attacks on Muslims are reported.

In a latest case, a mob of hardliner Hindus attacked foreign Muslim students at their university hostel in Ahmedabad. The attackers were armed with sticks and knives.

The only mistake of the Muslims students was they were offering prayers in their hostel courtyard. The Hindu far-right mob stormed the hostel of Gujarat University and attacked foreign Muslim students while offering Taraweeh prayers. As a result, several foreign students were injured. Two of the injured were admitted to a local hospital. The attackers also ransacked motorcycles of the foreign students hailing from Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and several African countries.

The students told media that they had gathered on Saturday night inside the boys’ hostel premises for the Taraweeh prayer. They said there is no mosque on the university campus based. A mob armed with sticks and knives attacked us and vandalised our rooms, the students further said. They broke laptops, air conditioners, sound systems and damaged our bikes, the students said.

On the other hand, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has said that actions would be taken against the perpetrators.
