Iranian army chief orders probe into helicopter crash

Iranian Army Chie1f Mohammad Bagheri has ordered an high-level committee to investigate the helicopter crash of President Ibrahim Raisi.

According to international media reports, Chief of Staff Muhammad Baqeri has ordered a high-level committee to investigate the accident, on which the high-level body will determine the causes of the helicopter accident.

On the other hand, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has expressed “regret” over the martyrdom of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his colleagues.

Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement that the Secretary-General expressed his heartfelt condolences to Ibrahim Raisi’s family and the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The UN Security Council observed a minute’s silence for Raisi. Members of the Security Council observed a minute’s silence in memory of Raisi and his colleagues who martyred in the helicopter crash.

The funeral prayers of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian, who were martyred in a helicopter crash yesterday, will be offered in Tabriz today.

According to Iranian media, citizens are saddened by the death of Ibrahim Raisi in various cities including Mashhad and Qom. A five-day mourning day will be observed in Iran for the national tragedy from today.
