Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrives in Islamabad

Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi along with a high-level delegation has reached Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on a three-day official visit.

The Iranian president is also accompanied by the First Lady and foreign minister.

Several important agreements are likely to be signed during the three-day visit of Raisi.

President Raisi will meet President Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Senate chairman, and Speaker of National Assembly.

Raisi will also visit Lahore and Karachi and meet with the provincial leadership. The Iranian president will be accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation comprising the foreign minister and other members of the cabinet, senior officials as well as a large business delegation, a Foreign Office spokesperson.

He said that this will be the first visit by any Iranian head of state to Pakistan after the February 8 general elections this year.

The spokesperson said the two sides will have a wide-ranging agenda to further strengthen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in diverse fields including trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, and people-to-people contacts. He said that the visit will provide an important opportunity to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations.
