The Masjil-e-Shura of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has rejected the resignation of Ameer Siraj-ul-Haq.

According to a statement released here on Saturday by JI spokesperson Qaisar Sharif, the Markazi Majlis-e-Shura has unanimously rejected the resignation of Sirajul Haq as Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer.

Qaiser Sharif said that the Markazi Majlis-e-Shura has posed full confidence in Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haque. He added that JI Ameer will continue his duties according to the constitution.

The Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson said that the Majlis-e-Shura meeting has also started under the chairmanship of Siraj-ul-Haq, which will be addressed by the JI Ameer.

He further said that the failure in the general elections was not due to JI Ameer but due to rigging.

It should be remembered that Sirajul Haq had resigned from his position as the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami after the defeat in the elections.

The Jamaat-e-Islami had secured no seats in the National Assembly. The party got only two seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly.

Sirajul Haq was elected as the new JI Ameer in 2014, replacing Syed Munawar Hassan.

Siraj remained JI chief for a tenure of five years and was re-elected in 2019.
