Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim appointed acting CJ of PHC

President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on Friday appointed Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim – the most senior judge – as an acting Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC).

The development was also notified by the Law Ministry in Islamabad. President Zardari appointed Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim under Article 196 of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, a notification of the permanence of the six additional judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC) was also issued.

The appointment will be effective from the day of swearing in, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and he will remain in office until appointed as permanent Chief Justice.

After the President’s approval, the Ministry of Law has also issued a notification to make six additional judges of the SHC permanent.

Justice Amjad Ali Bohiu, Justice Sana Akram Minhas, and Justice Jawad Akbar Sarwa were among the SHC who were made permanent.
