Rapid fluctuations in weight can lead to early death: study

A study has shown that in obese people with heart disease, too much weight fluctuation significantly increases the risk of death.
The study, conducted by Anglia Ruskin University, analysed data from 8,297 participants recruited as part of the UK Biobank study.
They were studied for about 14 years, in which weight loss as well as weight gain increased the risk level.
Lead author Dr. Jofin Zhang said that doctors should keep these results in mind, especially at a time when there are medicines in the market for rapid weight loss.
He said that this is the first study of its kind to examine the relationship between weight change and mortality in obese people with heart disease.
