Linked devices: WhatsApp users can lock, hide chats

Meta’s instant-messaging app WhatsApp is all set to introduce a new feature on linked devices, which will enable users to protect their chats from other people.
WABetaInfo said that the instant-messaging app is rolling out its Chat Lock feature on linked devices.
The new feature will allow users to lock and hide their chats behind a passcode or biometric authentication. The feature was initially limited to primary devices. The report, however, said that the Chat Lock feature appears to be available to users using WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.11.9), rather than just a select few users.
Meta launched the Chat Lock feature in WhatsApp in May 2023. Last month, it had been reported the company had started testing the feature on linked devices by rolling it out to a number of users.
The company has not disclosed when the new feature will be available in the stable version of WhatsApp. However, it is expected to be introduced for the users after thorough testing in the beta version of the app.
This could take at least a couple of weeks.
