Met office issues heat wave alert for Karachi

The Metrological Department has issued a possible heat wave warning for Karachi from May 29 to 31.

According to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, the weather will remain hot in the city today, with temperatures expected to reach between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius.

Apart from Karachi, several districts in Sindh, including Qamber Shahdadkot, Larkana, Shikarpur, and Jacobabad, are expected to experience temperatures 6 to 8 degrees higher than normal.

Similarly, Khairpur, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, and Tharparkar may see temperatures 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher.

He warned that the intensity of the heat is expected to be particularly high from May 29 and 30 in Karachi.

Residents are urged to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses during this period of extreme temperatures.

He said weather would improve after June 10 to 15.
