Meta introduces Communities feature in Facebook Messenger

09 June, 2024 18:50

Meta had introduced a feature called Communities to WhatsApp in 2022 and now the company has quietly introduced the same feature to Facebook Messenger as well.

Basically it can be called a huge chat group that will not need to be connected to a Facebook group.

Upto 5,000 people can be added to a community even if they are not members of a Facebook group.

According to the company, this feature is not yet available to everyone and users have to take care of their privacy.

In 2022, Meta introduced the Community Chats feature to Messenger so that members of Facebook groups could communicate in real time.

But now the need for membership in Facebook groups has been removed.

It is to be mentioned here that messaging has always been the focus of meta-platforms, even with Instagram improving direct messages.

In 2023, Instagram introduced an option called Channels to send mass updates through direct messages.
