Muslim family harassed during Holi celebrations

A person was arrested and three were detained in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor after a Muslim family got harassed during the Holi celebrations.

The action was taken after the video of the ambush went viral on social media on Sunday.

The police arrested one accused, Anirudh and took custody of three minors after booking them under IPC sections 147, 341, 323, 504, 509 and 304, according to Indian media.

The victims were identified as Mohammed Danish, his daughter and mother.

In the viral clip a group of people–celebrating Holi– can be seen stopping Danish and his mother and daughter, who were riding on a motor cycle and the group forcefully spray water, and apply colours to trio while they resist.

They also chanted slogans ‘Jai Shri Ram’.

“On Saturday when the Muslim family was going to take medicine, four to five unknown men stopped their motorcycle, misbehaved with the women and forcefully applied colours to them,” said Dhampur police station in a statement.
