Pakistan Railways reduces fares by over 50 per cent

Amid at the recent reduction in petroleum product prices, the Pakistan Railways has announced the reductions in fares across various distances.

Passengers traveling shorter distances, ranging from one to 200 kilometers, across all classes of trains will enjoy reduced fares.

The economy class has seen the major reduction up to 54% while the air-conditioned class fares have been reduced by 40%.

The minimum fare of an economy class ticket at the Lahore to Rawalpindi route has been decreased from Rs250 to Rs100 which will be started from May 21 (today).

Moreover, fares for the Khyber Mail route, covering distances of 1 km to 130 km, have also been slashed to Rs. 100 from Rs. 250.

It is worth mentioning here that, on May 15, the price of diesel was slashed by Rs7.88, retailing it for Rs274.08.
