Pakistan women team won the T20 series for the first time against New Zealand

Dunedin ; Pakistan women’s cricket team made history on Tuesday by defeating New Zealand women in Dunedin and registering their first series win against the White Ferns.

New Zealand Women had an 8-0 record against Pakistan Women in T20Is till the start of December 2023. But everything changed for Pakistan women in the second consecutive match.

In the first match at the same venue she won by seven wickets, Girls in Green outscored her opponents by 10 runs in the second match, securing her a vital 2-0 lead. The hosts were restricted to 127/7 after scoring 137/6 by Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Aarya Riaz made 32 off 22 shots, with one shot going over the boundary line and three shots hitting the fence. Opening pitcher Muneba Ali scored 35 points. New Zealand briefly led 89-6 thanks to Pakistan’s disciplined bowling, but Georgia Pimmer and Hamma Lowe fought back to pull the hosts back into the match.

However, they were still 10 runs short as Fatima Sana successfully defended 17 runs in the final over. Fatima Sana took three wickets while Sadia Iqbal sent two players back to the pavilion.
