President asks provinces to ensure implementation of 20 point strategy in cooperation with Ulema and elected representative.

President Dr. Arif Alvi on Wednesday chaired a meeting to discuss the implementation of recently agreed 20-points with Ulema.

Ministers and CII head also attended the meeting held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.

Dr Arif Alvi emphasised that provincial governments should ensure the implementation of 20-points in letter and spirit at all district, tehsil and village levels.

According to a press release issued from President’s Media Office, he also called for ensuring live telecast of Taraweeh prayers during Ramazan

Meanwhile, the meeting emphasized that the provincial governments, in cooperation with Ulema and elected representatives, should ensure  implementation of 20-points.

The President directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to ensure the live telecast of Taraweeh prayers on PTV during the holy month of Ramazan.

Besides, he directed her for giving effective coverage to the health guidelines regarding COVID-19.

The meeting advised the people to maintain social distancing and offer Taraweeh prayers at their homes.

Those attended the meeting included: Minister for Interior, Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah, Minister for Religious Affairs, Pir Noor ul Haq Qadri, Special Assistant to PM on Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology, Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Secretary Interior, Yousaf Naseem Khokhar and the Secretary Religious Affairs.

Meanwhile,  Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Pakistan Television will live telecast Taraweeh prayer.

She said this while briefing Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Furthermore, she briefed him on Information Ministry’s public awareness campaign regarding Coronavirus.

Awan also briefed on strategy to persuade people to adopt precautionary measures, especially during Ramadan.

She apprised the Prime Minister that sufficient publicity of 20 points agenda agreed with Ulema is being ensured so that Namazis can themselves observe precautionary measures before coming to mosques.

Steps to ensure protection of media workers in the context of Coronavirus pandemic also came under discussion.

Moreover, she informed the Prime Minister about provision of protection kits and gowns to media workers deputed to cover Corona hospitals and isolation centers.
