Mohammad Sadiq appointed Special Representative for Afghanistan.

The Government of Pakistan has appointed Ambassador (Retd) Mohammad Sadiq as Special Representative for Afghanistan.

According to a press release of foreign office, retired Ambassador Sadiq had served as an officer of the Foreign Service of Pakistan.

He had wide-ranging experience in diplomacy, and extensive expertise on Afghanistan.

Mohammad Sadiq also had served as the country’s ambassador to Afghanistan from 2008-2014.

He served in a number of key capitals, including Brussels, Beijing and Washington.

Meanwhile, he had also remained the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2007-2008.

On Saturday, Special Envoy of Pakistan to Afghanistan Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi .

The FM discussed Afghan peace process during meeting with him in Islamabad.

Shah Mahmood noted lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan indispensable for construction and development of the entire region.

He said Pakistan sincerely played its constructive role in Afghan peace process, which the world community is also acknowledging now.

Furthermore, he said Islamabad will continue to play its vigorous role in maintaining regional peace and stability.

During the meeting, matters pertaining to Afghan peace process as well as regional peace and stability came under discussion.
